Handnail Roofing is a small, family-owned roofing company based in Spring, Texas, working across Montgomery County and the north Houston suburbs. Andy Hughes inspects every roof, prices every job and runs every install, and Nicole is in the business right alongside him. That’s the whole management structure.
Meet Andy
Andy learned roofing the old way, on roofs, from people who set nails with a hammer because that’s how it was done. Somewhere along the line the trade switched to nail guns because they’re faster, and most of the roofs Andy gets called out to repair are proof of what “faster” costs: nails driven through the shingle mat, nails standing proud and cutting the course above, nails an inch above the line where they hold one layer instead of two. He decided the company would keep doing it by hand, and he named it that so nobody could forget.
Today he’s a CertainTeed ShingleMaster credentialed contractor, which means CertainTeed has vetted the company’s installation practices and it can offer their extended warranties. He installs every shingle brand ABC Supply carries, GAF, CertainTeed, Owens Corning, TAMKO and Atlas, and he’ll tell you which ones are worth the money on your particular roof.
How we work
The inspection is free and it starts in the attic. Water trails on the rafters and wet insulation tell the truth about a roof before anything shows on the ceiling. You get photos of all of it, including the parts that are fine.
The estimate is written, itemized and sent to your phone. You read it in a portal, ask questions, compare options and sign when you’re ready. Financing is available, including 0% APR for up to 18 months for qualified buyers, subject to credit approval, and we’ll show any option as a monthly payment.
Every nail is set by hand. Straight, flush, inside the strip the manufacturer marks. It adds about an hour to a repair and a couple of hours to a replacement. It’s why our roofs stay on.
We photograph the work and clean up like we live there. Magnet sweep for nails, haul-off, a walk around the house with you, and after photos from the roof so you never have to climb a ladder to check.
What we’re not
We’re not a storm-chasing outfit that shows up after hail with a free-roof pitch and disappears when the checks clear. We’re not a sales company that subcontracts the actual roofing to whoever’s cheapest that week. And we’re not going to tell you your roof needs replacing when a $1,250 repair will fix it, because we’d rather have you as a customer for the next twenty years than for one invoice.
